There is something truly comforting about experiencing the palpable atmosphere of a place that breaths a rich history and cultural significance. Finding yourself in a modern, current environment while being surrounded by the remembrance of past times, looking at ancient architecture and objects, will leave you struck with a sense of incredulity.
The Chemical Labatory and Amphitheatre is one of those historical places that utterly enamored us. A cultural and scientific jewel of the University of Lisbon. It is conceivably the only survivor of the great teaching and research laboratories among European universities, and in the same condition as it was in the 19th century. The architecture of the place is stunning, with its cream white mezzanine, supported by delicate pillars. We could imagine students and teachers working here - bended over microscopes and glass tubes, sitting in the solid cherry wood benches.
